	Born to a shopowner and his wife in Upper Junon soon after the completion of the upper city and the Junon Cannon, Kaijo Phanex is the older of two brothers by seven years. Because his parents were not officially aligned with the Shinra Electric Power Company, Incorporated, they were not very well-off and were forced to struggle for every cent and lived in the floor above their storefront -- like many others in the area -- while attempting to put their oldest through school. As a child, however, Kaijo was very explorative and would often leave Upper Junon to return to Lower Junon, to swim in the ocean despite its pollution with his friends. It was here that a freak accident occurred, involving the high-voltage support tower leading from the ocean up to Upper Junon, in which Kaijo's body was subjected to extremely high voltage and electrocuted. However, rather than simply being burnt alive or instantly killed, he somehow survived and was instead given a sort of 'natural charge' to his body, similar in theory to that of a rechargeable battery.
